St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Taaleem, one of the UAE’s leading K-12 education providers to create new opportunities for students interested in pursuing careers in medicine.
Through this affiliation, eligible students aspiring to study medicine across Taaleem’s network of schools throughout the UAE will have access to admissions pathways into SGU’s Doctor of medicine program/ tracks, scholarship opportunities, and academic guidance designed to support their progression from secondary education to medical school.
The pathway comes at prime time amid a sustained national focus on building the UAE’s healthcare talent through education. According to the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, the federal Nafis National Healthcare Programme aims to qualify 10,000 Emiratis within five years through academic and training programs in medical and healthcare specialties, supported by educational scholarships.
Students who successfully complete International Baccalaureate (IB), A-Level, or US High School Diploma programs and meet SGU’s admissions requirements may be eligible to apply to SGU’s MD tracks. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to begin their studies at SGU campus in Grenada or at Northumbria University in Newcastle, United Kingdom, through SGU’s longstanding partnership with the university.
Through this affiliation, eligible Taaleem students may benefit from dedicated admissions support, scholarship opportunities, and guaranteed interview opportunity. The affiliation provides access to SGU’s Global Scholarship Program, which provides scholarship support of up to USD 80,000 for eligible international students. Additional financial assistance opportunities may also be available to qualifying students.
Students enrolled in SGU’s MD programs will have access to clinical training opportunities through a network of more than 75 affiliated hospitals and health centers across the United States and United Kingdom. These experiences provide students with hands-on exposure to patient care while helping them develop the skills, professionalism and clinical knowledge required for successful careers in healthcare.
