Emirati Student Represents Swiss International Scientific School Dubai At IB Global Conference

Hosted in the Middle East for the very first time, the largest annual gathering of International Baccalaureate (IB) educators, IB Global Conference, took place from October 24th – 26th at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The 2-day event featured educators from various different countries and cultures from the region.

Saeed Ahmed Lootah, Emirati IB Diploma student from the Swiss International Scientific School Dubai (SISD) was selected as the introductory speaker at the IB Global Conference, Abu Dhabi. Initially expressing interest in being a student lead speaker back in May, Saeed went through a selection process set up by the IB and had several online meetings with representatives to qualify as an official speaker at the conference.

Saeed said “It is an honour to be representing the UAE and Swiss International Scientific School Dubai at the IB Global Conference, having been given the opportunity to communicate my skills as a public speaker and a chance to describe my journey as an Emirati student in the IB system is a big achievement for me. With 2019 being the year of tolerance, I can proudly say the IB community has played a major role in giving me the opportunity to share my knowledge and perspective with others around the world”.

Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai follows the framework of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme from Pre-KG to Grade 12 and the Swiss Baccalaureate programme from Grade 6 onwards. The unique bilingual curriculum allows students to choose between the fully immersive bilingual English-French or English-German streams, or the bilingual English+ stream with one daily lesson of French or German. SISD is also a candidate school for the IB Career-Related Programme that will offer unique courses addressing the needs of students who wish to engage in career-related learning.
