Sharjah Electricity And Water Authority (SEWA) And Amity University Dubai Sign A Strategic Educational Partnership

An initiative aimed at building a culture and foundation for continued learning and development of employees, Amity University Dubai has now introduced a specialised corporate education vertical that focuses on providing periodic educational programmes for organisations based on their specific business requirements.

Both SEWA and Amity University Dubai came together to inaugurate the first of many training sessions under the name of ‘Illumina – An Engineer Development Programme’. This tailor-made, year-long programme aims to strengthen an employee’s technical and practical knowledge within the field, while also conducting academic research and studies to promote learning.

Through SEWA A (SEWA Academy), SEWA employees are encouraged to develop versatile skills to execute innovative changes that will serve customers effectively and create a more holistic organisation. Amity University Dubai’s 700,000 square foot, the state-of-the-art campus includes a range of engineering labs equipped with up-to-date technology and material for experiential learning.

H.E Dr. Rashid Alleem, Chairman of Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, said: “This partnership with Amity University Dubai supports our efforts to provide vocational learning opportunities for departments within SEWA. ‘Teaching and learning’ and ‘learning from experience’ are two principles that lead to winning in an organization. We hope to encourage professional learning and career growth through such programmes.

From engineering and research to leadership tips and soft skills, this niche inter-disciplinary engineering programme will expose employees to some of the workplace requirements within their job roles and provide hands-on experience, through a series of monthly classes, field studies, and projects. By the end of the programme, participants will learn how to think innovatively within their respective assignments and tasks, they will also acquire the skills required to uplift their personal profiles and take their careers to the next level.
