Teaching Sheikh Zayed’s values in Dubai schools

Teaching Sheikh Zayed’s values in Dubai schools

Over 300 teachers from more than 95 schools in Dubai came together at an event hosted by Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) to commemorate the Year of Zayed.

Celebrating the values of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the sessions covered the themes of wisdom, respect, sustainability and human development.

Dr Abdulla Al Karam, director general of KHDA said, “The diversity of Dubai’s education sector gives us a chance to inspire a young generation of learners by imparting teachings from the life of Sheikh Zayed. This edition of What Works is unique as it brings together the school community and teachers with a goal to learn from the wisdom of a great leader.”

Teachers exchanged views and discussed ideas to draw inspiration from the life of Sheikh Zayed and create new ways of learning to extend life-lessons into classroom settings.

“The legacy of Sheikh Zayed will live with us forever and it enriches our lives and desire to work towards greater progress in the future,” added Dr Abdulla.

Some of the school-led sessions focused on critical thinking skills, emotional intelligence, teaching generosity and tolerance to children and creating hope. School students also participated in the event and reflected on Emirati traditions by performing a yola dance and dedicating a poetry session in honour of Sheikh Zayed.
